The Importance of Confidentiality
Written by Owen Smith

All too often, audits, reports, emails and other communications are used against businesses in, either law suits, regulatory investigations or merger and acquisition due diligence.

This is because, despite best efforts, confidentiality cannot be maintained.

The Supreme Court of Canada recently dealt with the issue of solicitor and client privilege which allows a person/organization to resist production of written material constituting legal advice and this is a very important development.

We work closely with our clients to ensure that important documentation is privileged and not the source of future problems.

If you are considering an audit, an internal report or information which you regard as confidential, feel free to contact us. We’re here to help!
